Goalie Policy
2025-2026
The Moose Lake Area Hockey Association (MLAHA) is committed to encouraging players to explore the goalie position by offering support through equipment access, coaching, skill development, and financial assistance. This policy promotes retention, ensures safety, and helps offset costs for families of goalie players.
Goalie Equipment
- MLAHA will provide goalie equipment for up to two goalies per team at the following levels:
- Mites/8U, Squirt/10U, PeeWee/12U
- Bantam-level players must supply their own goalie gear, which must meet USA Hockey and Minnesota Hockey standards.
- Equipment fees may apply.
- Limited gear may be available for older age levels—please inquire.
1 Goalie stick will be provided for all age levels. MLAHA will purchase the sticks at the start of the season. MLAHA will supply a budget maximum each year, and players can pick their stick for us to order around that max.
Registration Fee Reimbursement (Applies to Squirt/10U and Above)
- Players must pay their full registration fee at the beginning of the season.
- To qualify for 100% reimbursement, the player must:
- Play goalie for at least 40% of their ice time,
- Or meet criteria determined by the coach and MLAHA board.
- Reimbursement will be issued by March 31, 2026, for goalies who have completed the full season.
Reimbursement will only cover the amount paid during registration. To receive reimbursement parents need to submit a reimbursement request by emailing board@mlaharebels.com prior to March 31, 2026. Note: Mite-level players are not eligible for registration reimbursement.
Goalie Camps
- MLAHA will reimburse goalies (Squirt/10U and above) for goalie camp(s) per season (April 1, 2025 - March 31, 2026) for up to a maximum of $500 per player.
- Players must receive prior approval from the Board of Directors before registering. Once approved, and camp is paid for and completed; please submit a receipt to treasurer@mlaharebels.com for reimbursement.
Any player attending a summer goalie camp funded by MLAHA must commit to playing goalie for MLAHA in the upcoming season. If not, the player will be required to reimburse MLAHA in full.
This policy reflects MLAHA’s dedication to developing strong, confident goalies while supporting families and promoting a positive hockey experience. For questions or assistance, please contact a board member.
